What happened with the SSI payment in September?
One of the most characteristic aspects of the SSA’s operations is the arrangement of its calendar. As we have explained earlier on this portal, if the payment day coincides with a weekend or holiday, the administration advances the payment to the first business day. This is what happened with the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) in September. Some may think that the payment has been delayed, but the truth is that the SSI corresponding to September 2025, was deposited on August 29, 2025, since September 1 coincided with the holiday of Labor Day.

With this peculiarity in the calendar, it is important to note that in the case of retirement benefits, there will be no changes for the month of September. As always, the payment of monthly benefits will proceed normally, following the usual rule of the birth dates of each beneficiary, and the Wednesdays of each month. - Wednesday, September 10: born between the 1st and the 10th.

However, it can happen, so citizens need to know what to do in this type of situation. The agency recommends waiting 3 business days after the scheduled date, as we are talking about electronic deposits that do not always happen immediately.
